To protect yourself the people that will consume your food, it is extremely important to wash your hands, the food you will be handling and all surfaces.

When it comes to poultry and other meat products, please perform these safe actions in order to protect yourself from cross contamination:

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands with a paper towel.

  2. Put on gloves

  3. All meat products - Fill a bowl with water and 1 cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of lemon juice.

  4. Remove plastic protection from meat package and put into the garbage - make sure it does not touch anything other than inside the garbage bag.

  5. Remove meat from package with one hand and place fully into the Vinegar and Lemon Juice mixture.

  6. With clean hand, turn on water and wash both hands again. 

  7. Remove meat from mixture and place into another bowl. Dump the mixture into the sink and wash bowl

  8. Rinse meat under water for 3-5 minutes. Pat dry. 

  9. Wash hands, remove gloves and throw into garbage bag. Wash any contact surfaces.

  10. Prep your meat and cook to proper food safe temperatures.
